Have you ever wondered what a typical day looks like for someone who balances the roles of minister, scholar, coach, and influencer? Let me take you behind the scenes of my daily routine.
A Spiritual Start to the Day
I begin my day with light exercise, prayer, and Bible reading. This morning routine is essential for both my physical and spiritual well-being. The light exercise helps to wake my body, promoting good health and energy for the day ahead. Prayer and Bible reading allow me to connect deeply with God, centering my thoughts and intentions on His will. This time of worship and reflection prepares my heart for ministry, ensuring I approach my work with humility, gratitude, and purpose. Through these practices, I invite God's presence into my day, seeking His guidance and strength as I serve others in my various roles and responsibilities.
Embracing Personal Organization with AI
After spending time with God, I dive straight into my work. I start with a glass of lemonade and consult my AI-generated calendar. Staying organized is non-negotiable in my whirlwind of responsibilities, and Usemotion is my secret weapon. This tool transforms chaos into order, scheduling everything from crucial meetings to creative writing sessions. Its AI-powered smart suggestions fine-tune my day, pinpointing the perfect times for each task. Now, I am ready to accomplish all of my essential tasks.
Connecting Globally
Throughout the day, I stay connected with people worldwide, including the UK, India, and various African countries. My primary modes of communication are calls, Zoom meetings, texts on WhatsApp, and emails, which enable me to maintain consistent contact and engagement. These tools allow me to coach and teach individuals, providing them with guidance and support regardless of location. Whether it's a morning call with a Muslim friend in London, an afternoon WhatsApp chat with a person I am coaching in Uganda, or an evening email exchange with someone in South Africa, I utilize technology to bridge distances and foster meaningful connections. My role involves imparting knowledge and offering coaching, building relationships, and creating a global network of individuals committed to the same mission. This continuous interaction ensures that I can effectively support and empower those I work with, no matter where they are.
Immersed in Scholarly Pursuits
Research and writing are the pulse of my daily life. Every day, I dive into the depths of scholarship and ministry, whether preparing for my next teaching assignment, sharpening my skills in apologetics and polemics, crafting insightful articles, or exploring congregational dynamics for the Center for the Study of Religion and American Culture. Picture me in a serene study, surrounded by a sea of books and notes, fully committed to pushing the boundaries of academic and ministry discourse. My work on congregations and polarization keeps me at the cutting edge of vital church conversations. At the same time, I bridge the gap between academia and the public, delving into the intricate relationships between Islam and Christianity and sharing my discoveries through engaging writing and compelling videos. I aim to inspire and inform a wider audience, making complex ideas accessible and relevant.
Leveraging Social Media for Ministry
In the last year, I have used social media as a venue to do remarkable things, turning it into a powerful platform for engaging and educating a diverse audience. Through my Blogs, YouTube channel, and, to a lesser degree, my Instagram and Facebook accounts, I've crafted content that critiques Islam from a theological perspective and fosters meaningful interfaith dialogue. I've shared videos that delve into the intricate theological differences between Christianity and Islam, emphasizing the Gospel's centrality in the Christian faith. My posts have sparked vibrant discussions, connecting with people from the USA, UK, India, and all across Africa, and I've utilized AI to keep the content fresh and relevant. From day-in-the-life blogs to thought-provoking articles, social media has become my digital pulpit, reaching thousands with messages of faith, understanding, and hope.
Harnessing the Power of AI
To help with social media management, I recently discovered the power of AI in a program called Sintra, which has become an indispensable tool in my daily life. It helps me manage my social media and suggests topics to write about, like this blog. The program allows me to focus on other essential duties beyond content creation by providing the organization and assistance I need. It's like having a personal assistant that handles tasks, enabling me to concentrate on other aspects of my job. Additionally, it offers valuable insights into audience engagement and trends, helping me tailor my content to meet the interests and needs of my followers more effectively. This technological support enhances my productivity and ensures that my online presence remains dynamic and relevant, freeing up more time for personal interactions and strategic planning in my ministry work.
Afternoon Ministry and Church Activities
My afternoons are dedicated to various essential tasks that support and advance our ministry efforts. This includes fundraising when necessary, planning local ministry work, content creation, coaching, research, and preparation for church-related activities.
Much of my time is spent planning and conducting training sessions, preparing teachings or sermons, and participating in interfaith events. I often meet with pastors over breakfast or lunch, organize outreach programs, and develop new evangelism strategies.
My role requires adaptability and responsiveness to the community's needs through direct ministry or behind-the-scenes planning and coordination. I provide guidance and support to interns as they navigate their ministry journeys, and I collaborate with other ministry leaders to address pressing issues such as cultural and political polarization. This ensures that our outreach efforts are relevant and impactful.
My afternoons are filled with meetings, strategic planning, and creating content for various platforms to engage and educate our audience. This comprehensive approach lets me stay connected with local and global communities, fostering a cohesive and dynamic ministry environment.
Shaping the Next Generation
I also use my afternoon time to prepare for my internship responsibilities. As the Assistant Director of the Internship Program at a ministry organization, I play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of spiritual leaders dedicated to ministering to Muslims. My involvement encompasses coaching interns through an intensive, hands-on experience designed to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge for effective ministry. Each intern is assigned a personal coach, and we meet weekly to provide support, direction, and academic insight. I also facilitate weekly Zoom meetings with interns and their cohorts, fostering a collaborative environment where they can share experiences and grow. I aim to ensure that our interns gain practical experience and develop a deep understanding of cultural and religious contexts, preparing them to be trailblazers in future endeavors.
Cherishing Family Time
Spending time with my 15-year-old daughter, Faith, is a cherished part of my day. Evenings are for reflection and connection with her, aligning with our Christian values of love and support. We engage in activities she enjoys, fostering a strong bond and open communication. Building a relationship with Faith involves understanding her interests and supporting her passions. We share experiences and create lasting memories, from weekend trips to heartfelt conversations, reinforcing our trust and mutual respect. Balancing work and family life is crucial, ensuring Faith feels valued and loved. This approach strengthens our family bonds and reflects the importance of nurturing relationships and prioritizing family in our faith journey.
A Life Dedicated to Service
My days blend spiritual devotion, scholarly pursuit, global engagement, and personal connection. From the early morning hours, where prayer and reflection set a purposeful tone, to discussions with friends and colleagues across the globe, every moment is an opportunity to serve, learn, and grow. Engaging in deep theological study and conducting impactful research fuels my mind while coaching interns and ministry advocates for the ministry I work for and fostering interfaith dialogues enrich my soul. Each action is infused with intention, creating a vibrant tapestry of faith-driven endeavors that bridge cultures and continents.
This routine is a testament to living with purpose and passion. Spiritual devotion anchors my efforts, providing a foundation for meaningful contributions to academic and interfaith communities. Connecting with individuals from diverse backgrounds through calls, texts, and meetings enriches my perspective and fosters a sense of global unity. Personal connections with family and friends offer support and inspiration, highlighting the importance of relationships in all facets of life. Embracing this multifaceted approach, I strive to make a difference in the world, guided by faith, driven by curiosity, and sustained by meaningful relationships, leaving a positive mark on everyone I encounter.
